Sorting a home: the papers and objects to set aside

Before a clearance, a simple list so nothing important gets lost.

In a severely cluttered home, essential documents are often hidden between newspapers or at the bottom of a bag. Before clearing, you need to know what to look for.

Documents to look for

  • identity card, passport, residence card;
  • bank documents: statements, cards, safe deposit boxes;
  • insurance contracts and pension policies;
  • notarial deeds, property deeds, lease;
  • any will;
  • the latest tax returns and tax assessment notices;
  • medical documents and health insurance card;
  • current bills and contracts: energy, phone, subscriptions.

Objects not to throw away without asking

  • jewellery, watches, cash;
  • photos, letters, notebooks;
  • keys whose purpose is unknown;
  • collectibles, even if they seem worthless;
  • digital media: phones, USB sticks, hard drives.

How we proceed

Before the intervention, we agree a list with you. During the sorting, everything that matches this list is set aside. At the end, the documents and objects found are returned to you under seal, with a simple inventory.

If we find something unexpected, we call you before deciding.
